PRACTICAL DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF CHILDREN

This course is for general dentists who wish to have more knowledge and skills in treating children.

What is PEDOCOP?

PEDOCOP is a short course with the aim of providing general dentists with practical knowledge and skill in managing children. The course was developed by the training staff of the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry with the goal of educating and training dentists to augment the need in delivering quality care to children all over the Philippines.

The course consists of two parts:

PEDOCOP Theory, on its virtual format, consists of 5 modules (Investigate, Protect, Arrest, Serve and Rescue). Each module has been carefully planned to address common oral health concerns of children. The lectures, delivered by pediatric dentists, are based on current concepts collated from sound evidence.

PEDOCOP Workshop is a hands-on workshop designed to give the general dentists the experience in managing children, the know-how in manipulating the different dental materials available in our country, and the skills in the different caries control techniques.

PEDOCOP Theory

  • To know the different preventive treatment options for children
  • To know the different alternative approaches in managing dental caries in children
  • To have an in-depth understanding of patient-centered approach in dealing with children’s dental needs
  • To apply the global evidence-based strategies in the Philippine setting
  • To be equipped with practical behavior management techniques in children as general practitioners
  • To be updated with emergency treatment in both primary and immature permanent teeth

PEDOCOP Workshop

  • To apply the knowledge learned in PEDOCOP Theory
  • To know the different dental materials useful in pediatric dentistry that are available in the country today and how to use them
  • To gain experience in managing children
  • To gain skills in different caries control techniques
