PRACTICAL DENTAL MANAGEMENT OF CHILDREN

This course is for general dentists who wish to have more knowledge and skills in treating children.

What is PEDOCOP?

PEDOCOP is a short course with the aim of providing general dentists with practical knowledge and skill in managing children. The course was developed by the training staff of the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry with the goal of educating and training dentists to augment the need in delivering quality care to children all over the Philippines.

The course consists of two parts:

PEDOCOP Theory, on its virtual format, consists of 5 modules (Investigate, Protect, Arrest, Serve and Rescue). Each module has been carefully planned to address common oral health concerns of children. The lectures, delivered by pediatric dentists, are based on current concepts collated from sound evidence.

PEDOCOP Workshop is a hands-on workshop designed to give the general dentists the experience in managing children, the know-how in manipulating the different dental materials available in our country, and the skills in the different caries control techniques.

To apply the global evidence-based strategies in the Philippine setting
To be equipped with practical behavior management techniques in children as general practitioners
To be updated with emergency treatment in both primary and immature permanent teeth

PEDOCOP Workshop

To apply the knowledge learned in PEDOCOP Theory
To know the different dental materials useful in pediatric dentistry that are available in the country today and how to use them
To gain experience in managing children
To gain skills in different caries control techniques

Once approved, you may now listen to the lectures at your own pace. You have access to the lectures for one month.
Complete Module 1 first. Answer all post-test questions to be able to proceed to the next module.
Complete steps until you finish Module 5.
After completing Module 5, you will earn a certificate of completion.
With your certificate, you are now eligible to enroll in the PEDOCOP Workshop!

PEDOCOP Workshop

This will be done at the Pediatric Dentistry Center Philippines in Quezon City.
Those who finish all the PEDOCOP Theory lectures and have earned the certificate of completion are the only ones eligible to enroll.
Registration fee: PHP 20,000 (inclusive of all dental materials, PPEs, meals and handouts).

PEDOCOP Theory FAQs

Q: What is PEDOCOP Theory and PEDOCOP Workshop?

A: PEDOCOP Theory consists of all lectures which you will listen to online. PEDOCOP Workshop is a hands-on workshop, as you get a first-hand experience on managing children at PDCP and doing dental procedures on them.

You are only eligible to enroll in the PEDOCOP Workshop after you have completed all modules of the PEDOCOP Theory. You will be given a certificate of completion at the end of all the modules.
Q: How do I listen to the PEDOCOP Theory lectures?

A: All PEDOCOP Theory lectures were pre-recorded by the PDC consultants. You can listen to the lectures online wherever you are, as long as you have an internet access.
Q: What are the requirements for me to listen to the lectures?

A: To listen to the lectures, all you need is a gadget with an internet access (laptop, tablet, smartphone), with a minimum internet speed of 5 Mbps. We suggest a big screen so you will be able to read the slides well. We also suggest that you listen to the lectures in a quiet place so you will be able to focus and take down notes, if necessary.
Q: What are modules and what are lectures?

A: There are 5 modules in PEDOCOP Theory. Each module has several lectures. Each module is designed to focus on one particular area. For example, the first module is INVESTIGATE. The lectures included in this module are all about looking into the child and how to make a proper assessment and diagnosis. Therefore, the lectures included are the rights of the child, the cognitive development of the child, caries risk assessment, caries progression and diagnosis of the pulp. The complete list of the modules and the specific lectures for each are located in this website.
The fifth module, the RESCUE - as we give you insights on how to manage trauma on a child’s primary and permanent teeth. This was not included in the PEDOCOP lectures in the past.
Q: How long do I have access to the lectures?

A: You have access to each module for one week. You may watch it at your own pace. At the completion of each module, you will be asked to register for the next module.
For one-time-payment registrants, you will be given access to all 5 modules for one month.
Q: I finished Module 1 in two days. Do I have to wait for five more days for me to enroll in Module 2?

A: No. If you finished Module 1, you may proceed to enroll to Module 2 at any time you wish to. Your access to Module will still be one week from your date of enrollment.
Q: How much do I pay for the PEDOCOP Theory lectures?
A: The following is the fees of the PEDOCOP Theory modules. You may pay for it per module, or you may do a one-time payment for all the modules.

Q: Can I skip modules?

A: No, you cannot skip modules. The modules are designed to be systematic, to be listened to one after the other.
Q: I am done with Module 1, how do I pay for Module 2?

A: Please send proof of payment via Viber (0917-899-7336) or via email pediadentphils@gmail.com. Please indicate your name and the module you are paying for. Please wait for 24 hours to gain access.
Q: Can a colleague and I share a login?

A: Your login is unique and cannot be shared. However, if you have a friend who will watch the lectures with you, only one person will be granted a certificate of completion. The one who earns the certificate is the one who will be eligible to attend the workshop.
Q: I paid for all modules and I do not wish to continue anymore. Can I get a refund?

A: No, we are sorry you cannot get a refund.
Q: Does the fee include the PEDOCOP Workshop?

A: The fee of the PEDOCOP Theory does not include the PEDOCOP Workshop. That is a separate registration.
Q: The internet is suddenly weak in my area and I cannot access the modules properly. Can I get a refund?

A: No, you cannot get a refund. You have access to each module for a week. We suggest that you go to an area with a stronger internet signal. You will be able to finish one module in half a day.
Q: How many lectures are there in the PEDOCOP Theory lectures?

A: There is a total of 20 lectures, divided in 5 modules.
Q: Does PEDOCOP have CPD units?

A: No, they don’t but you may apply them for self-directed learning at PRC. The number of hours will be reflected on your certificate.
Q: Can I take screenshots of the slides?

A: While you may take screenshots of the slides, please be reminded that these can only be for your personal use. This is the intellectual property of the Pediatric Dentistry Center Philippines, and therefore it cannot be used for any commercial purpose. We also ask that you be mindful of the Data Privacy Act. We have been granted permission from the parents and caregivers to put the pictures of the children on the slides. However, let us be conscious of their rights and privacy.
Q: Do I need to answer the post-test questions?

A: Yes. The post-test questions help you learn the key points of the lecture. Therefore, it is required that you get most of the answers correct before you move on to the next lecture. If you fail the post-test, you may take it again and again.
Q: I am currently staying in another country. Can I enroll in PEDOCOP Theory?

A: As long as you have a PRC license in dentistry, you may enroll in PEDOCOP. You may listen to the PEDOCOP Theory modules anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection.
Q: I am having trouble accessing the modules. What can I do?

A: All lectures are web-based. All you need is an internet connection. If you believe that you have a strong internet connection and cannot still access it, the website might be on a scheduled maintenance. From time to time, the website will be maintained and cleaned, which will briefly take the website offline. This will take an hour or two. Please come back after a few hours.
If you still cannot access it after a day, and you believe you have a strong internet connection, please contact our technical support (Email: learn@pedocop.com.ph / Viber: +63 917-579-3238).
Q: I have paid for the module and sent my proof of payment. I still have not received a letter of confirmation. What do I do?

A: Confirmation letters are sent after 24 hours to allow our staff to verify your payment. (Please note our staff works from Mondays to Saturdays. Please allow 2 days if you paid on a Saturday.)

Please make sure that you typed in the right account number (Security Bank Account No.: 0041-0076-87001) or GCash QR Code when paying. We are not liable if you typed in the wrong account number or phone number.

For easier transactions, we are in the process of generating QR codes for our bank accounts.
Q: Can I pay for the Theory and Workshop fees together?
A: Yes, you may pay for both together. Please indicate that in your communication with us. However, please note the following:
- You will have to schedule your Workshop right away. The dates are provided in our website and in our social media platforms. Canceling and rescheduling workshop schedules are allowed within the guidelines provided to you in the email.
- You will have to finish your theory lectures before your Workshop schedule. You can finish the Theory lectures in a few days. If you did not finish the Theory lectures, you will not be given entry to the Workshop, which forfeits your workshop fee.
